PCO Computer Optics GmbH has announced the DICAM-PRO, an intensified CCD camera that combines a microchannel-plate image intensifier with a high-resolution CCD sensor. The ultrafast gated camera digitizes an image with 12-bit dynamic resolution at a rate of 12.5 MHz, and reduces readout noise to as low as 7 electrons. Independent horizontal and vertical binning within a region of interest improves the camera sensitivity and imaging frequency. Data is transmitted via a fiber optic link to a PCI interface.
