Washington, D.C., Jan. 31 -- John Thorner is stepping down as executive director of The Optical Society of America (OSA) to pursue other interests. The OSA board said in a statement that it recognizes and appreciates Thorner's accomplishments in his three and a half years as executive director, particularly in enabling OSA to pursue its mission and maintain a sound financial position.
