NEWARK, N.J., Feb.27 -- A new method for producing ultraviolet (UV) light has been patented by an international team of university researchers in New Jersey and Germany. With colleagues at The Technical University in Munich, Rutgers-Newark physics professor Daniel Murnick has developed a system that provides a much more energy-efficient UV light source with higher power and lower maintenance than conventional UV light sources. The source uses the shorter deep or vacuum UV wavelength and provides the potential for major industrial and commercial applications. The team has been granted two...Read full articleRelated content from Photonics MediaArticlesDurable Coating Self-Heals in 30 Minutes Upon Sunlight ExposureResearchers at the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology (KRICT) developed a transparent protective coating material that can self-heal in 30 minutes when exposed to sunlight. ...Photonics.com 8/23/2022Hamamatsu, Fraunhofer Develop Joint Application LabTogether with Hamamatsu, the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology (Fraunhofer ILT) launched an application lab for advanced laser material processing with ultrashort pulsed (USP) laser...Photonics Spectra November 2022 IssueLow-Power Optical Tweezers Protect Bioparticles from DamageOptical tweezers trap and manipulate minute particles with light.
