Washington, D.C., April 5 -- The Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibit (OFC), the premier conference and tradeshow dedicated to the fiber optics community, just wrapped up one of its most successful conferences to date.
OFC 2002 took place March 17 - 22 in Anaheim, Calif. The expanded exhibit floor showcased 1204 exhibitors. In addition to the robust exhibit, the 32,000 attendees had the opportunity to explore new research in the field of optics from the more than 850 technical papers that were presented. There were 24,300 exhibit-related attendees and 7,700 technical attendees.
The plenary session featured talks from Vinton Cerf, senior vice president of Internet architecture and technology for Worldcom; Tingye Li, world-renowned consultant in the field of lightwave communications; and Geoffrey Moore, chairman and founder of the Chasm Group. Attendees also had the opportunity to meet with some of the most influential business people in the fiber optic field as part of the OFC commercial technology program.
Other popular attractions at OFC 2002 included the short course offerings, the OFC employment center and the post-deadline papers presentations.
OFC 2003 will be held March 23 - 28 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Ga. More than 800 exhibitors from OFC 2002 have already signed on. Those interested in exhibiting at OFC 2003 should contact Melissa Russell at mrusse@ofcconference.org, or visit the OFC 2003 Web site at
