GAITHERSBURG, Md., June 10 -- Optelecom Inc. announced the restructuring of its Paragon AV operating unit, extending plans to reduce costs and boost profitability to the London-based unit. The company previously announced plans to reduce Paragon's operating cost structure, expand Paragon's product offerings and integrate the unit into the company's global sales and marketing efforts. The company said it will consolidate Paragon's North American sales initiative into Optelecom's domestic operations. In addition to sales activities on their traditional copper-wire product line, Paragon will begin to support Optelecom's fiber optic product line in Europe, the Middle East and across Africa. Managing Director Michael Weight will continued to lead the revamped unit.
