OAKLAND, N.J., Dec. 3 --Mikron Infrared announced yesterday it has acquired IMPAC Electronic GmbH, a manufacturer of infrared temperature measurement instrumentation.

IMPAC's main offices are in Frankfurt, Germany, with satellite operations in Dresden, Ilmenau, Magdeburg and in Erstein, France. IMPAC, which was privately owned, has a substantial share of the European infrared point measurement market and is known for its innovative products, Mikron said.

Mikron develops infrared noncontact temperature measurement technology and near- and far-infrared thermal imaging technology.

Rolf Breternitz, IMPAC's managing director, will still be responsible for IMPAC's operations and will assume additional responsibilities with Mikron, the company said.
