AnaLight Bio200 Scientific Sensor

Farfield Sensor's AnaLight Bio200 Scientific Sensor The AnaLight Bio200 from Farfield Sensors Ltd. features patented sensing technology for real-time analysis of the structure, function and conformational changes of proteins. The Salford, UK, company says the device eliminates the ambiguities of evanescent probe optical systems and decreases the amount of time typically required to validate results.
The instrument uses a dual-polarization technique and an integrated interferometer to provide quantitative data, a dimensional resolution of 10 pm and real-time mass loading with a resolution of 100 fg. Two waveguides are stacked on top of one another, replicating the double slits of a Young interferometer. The upper surface of the top waveguide is exposed, and the evanescent field probes detect the changes. As these changes occur, the propagation velocity is modified relative to the velocity in the bottom waveguide, which changes the position of interference fringes generated in the far field.
The AnaLight Bio200 can be used to study drug molecules binding to peptides; the protein aggregation associated with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases; DNA complementation; and biomembrane behavior.
