HAMBURG, Germany, May 14 -- Olympus Europe announced today it has acquired Soft Imaging System and its subsidiaries. Soft Imaging is a Munster, Germany-based provider of software and hardware solutions for digital imaging. Olympus said it has worked with Soft Imaging System for many years in the light-optical microscopy market, and that its software and hardware for imaging and microscopy will enhance its microscopy and imaging product range.
"This acquisition now provides the basis for combined R&D," said Werner Teuffel, CEO of Olympus Europe. "By combining our strengths and leveraging on our joint expertise, we can and will move forward and target to be the number one imaging platform for all types of microscopes and applications worldwide."
