EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass., Sept. 17 -- CeramOptec, a producer of customized and innovative fiber optics, has introduced the Optran Plus Advantage line of high-numerical-aperture (NA 0.30) silica/silica optical fiber.

Optran Plus Advantage optical fibers offer an 80 percent larger area of irradiation, or they can accept 80 percent more than typical NA 0.22 fiber optics. They also offer high-temperature capability in fused bundles and other configurations.

These optical fibers are ideal for a wide variety of applications, such as furnace monitoring and nuclear power plant use and sensing. They also focus to smaller spot sizes, offering exceptional performance from 160 to 1200 nm (Optran Plus Advantage UV) and 350 to 2500 nm (Optran Plus Advantage WF). Core sizes for stock fibers range from 100 to 600 µm, and several other sizes are offered, as well as custom-designed bundles and ferrules to meet any specification.
