Raytheon Sells IR Unit to L-3

WALTHAM, Mass., Nov. 10 -- Raytheon Co. has announced the sale of its Raytheon Commercial Infrared (RCI) business to L-3 Communications Corp. for approximately $42 million in cash. The acquisition is expected to add approximately $50 million to L-3's sales for 2005. The business will be renamed L-3 Communications Infrared Products (L-3 Infrared Products). RCI, based in Dallas, Texas, designs, manufactures and sells uncooled thermal imaging products primarily serving commercial markets including fire, security, public safety and transportation.
