Available from the Laser Institute of America (LIA), the 82-page ANSI Z136.4 — 2005 American National Standard Recommended Practice for Laser Safety Measurements for Hazard Evaluation has been published as part of the Z136 series. It is designed to supplement the Z136.1 American National Standard for Safe Use of Lasers. Targeted to laser safety officers, technicians, medical practitioners and educators, the standard includes definitions, examples and practical information. Laser safety experts from industry, academia and government have contributed to the work, which also is available in a searchable electronic version. The cost is $110 for LIA members and $130 for nonmembers.
