Palomar Technologies, a Vista, Calif., supplier of automated high-precision microelectronic assembly systems, has collaborated with Avo Photonics, a Horsham, Pa.-based developer of radio frequency and optical packaging technology, on the packaging of Luxcore Optronics's 27dB gain optical chip. Palomar and Avo have completed a prototype design and assembly for the advanced optical amplifier chip.    . . .    South Mountain Technologies Ltd. (SMT), of Shenzhen, China, announced it has officially opened a dedicated front-projector and rear-projection light engine manufacturing facility. The two-year-old facility, which was part of a joint venture between projector maker InFocus Corp., based in Wilsonville, Ore., and TCL, of China, is in the final qualification phase in preparation for mass production and is expected to reach full capacity of 1.5 million units per year later this year.
