  • Janos Technology Moves to Expanded Quarters

Photonics Spectra
Sep 2005
Janos Technology Inc. has relocated to a 40,000-sq-ft facility in Keene, N.H. Designed to house 95 workers, the plant incorporates an open manufacturing layout and a flexible production line. Along with additions in coating equipment, the building accommodates a class 1000 cleanroom for antireflection coating where lens systems will be assembled. With the expansion, the company intends to increase production capacity and to improve the quality of its conventional and diamondlike coatings.

antireflection coating
A thin layer of material applied to a lens surface to reduce the amount of reflected energy. Ideally the index of refraction of that material should be equal to the square root of the product of the indices of the material on either side of the coating, while the ideal thickness for a single-layer coating is one-quarter of the wavelength at which reflectance is to be minimized. See also multilayer coating.
