NEWARK, Del., Nov. 28 -- A University of Delaware (UD)-led research team has received a $1.3 million grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to fund nanoscale research that may pave the way for future photonic advances such as an optical computer that runs on light instead of electricity. The grant is for research on nanoscale-directed self-assembly in electrical and optical fields. The research team will be laying the groundwork for new technologies by directing tiny particles invisible to the human eye to create materials such as crystal arrays and wire-like structures that can...Read full articleRelated content from Photonics MediaArticlesSpectroscopy, Machine Learning Pair to Ease Recyclables SortingResearchers at Hefei University of Technology have demonstrated the use of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) to automatically identify, classify, and subclassify recyclable waste in real...Photonics Spectra October 2023 IssueSERS-Based Nanosensor Detects Pesticides on FruitResearchers at the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden developed a nanosensor based on surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy or scattering (SERS).
