FO SPLICING
The Light Brigade has issued a menu-based DVD titled “Fiber Optic Splicing,” representing the sixth release in its Staff Development series. With professionally filmed laboratory and field footage and detailed graphics, the videodisc is structured so that users can select topics according to their needs. It covers profile alignment system, light injection and detection, and fixed V-groove fusion splicers for ribbon and fiber-to-the-home and -premises applications. Segments on preparing, cleaving, splicing and protecting optical fibers and on how to obtain optimal splice quality are included. Splicing in outside plant applications and mechanical, multimode and specialty splicing also are addressed.
