LG.Philips LCD Breaks Ground for Module Plant in Poland

LG.Philips LCD of Seoul, South Korea, a developer of thin-film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) technology, held a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday for its new back-end module production plant in Wroclaw, Poland. The new production base, the first by a global LCD panel maker in Europe, the company said, is a result of an investment agreement LG.Philips LCD signed with the Polish government and Wroclaw's municipal government in September 2005.     liquid crystal display
    An alphanumeric display formed by a layer of liquid crystal material sandwiched between two sheets of glass; a transparent conductive coating on the glass is etched to form the character segments. An applied voltage causes the appropriate segments to darken as the molecules in the liquid crystal change their arrangement.
