CVI Announces Next-Day Shipping of Crystal Quartz Waveplates

With over 7000 pieces in stock, optical component manufacturer CVI announced next day shipment of multiple- and zero-order crystal quartz waveplates in over 45 standard wavelengths. CVILaser.jpgOrders received before 1pm can be shipped the same day from its Albuquerque, N.M. facility, the company said. Additionally, increased manufacturing throughput and improved state-of-the-art metrology allows CVI to offer rapid turnaround times for waveplates in custom wavelengths and sizes, the company said. VP of Sales and Marketing Bob Soales said, “We have been able to realize a 75 percent reduction in manufacturing cycle times for our waveplate product line. We believe this is the largest inventory of laser-grade crystal quartz waveplates in the industry. Our waveplate manufacturing processes support over 90 wavelengths from 193 nm up to 2300 nm.” CVI’s waveplate metrology ensures λ/200 retardation tolerances for the ultraviolet region and challenging custom applications, the company said.

Glossary
metrology
Metrology is the science and practice of measurement. It encompasses the theoretical and practical aspects of measurement, including the development of measurement standards, techniques, and instruments, as well as the application of measurement principles in various fields. The primary objectives of metrology are to ensure accuracy, reliability, and consistency in measurements and to establish traceability to recognized standards. Metrology plays a crucial role in science, industry,...
optical component
One or more optical elements – typically cemented together - in an optical system that are treated as a single group; e.g., a beamsplitter, or a cemented doublet or triplet.
photonics
The technology of generating and harnessing light and other forms of radiant energy whose quantum unit is the photon. The science includes light emission, transmission, deflection, amplification and detection by optical components and instruments, lasers and other light sources, fiber optics, electro-optical instrumentation, related hardware and electronics, and sophisticated systems. The range of applications of photonics extends from energy generation to detection to communications and...
