PULSED UV LIGHT

Xenon_13530.jpgThe advantages of pulsed UV light over continuous mercury UV lamps for various curing applications are described in a brochure from Xenon Corp. The downloadable four-page publication notes that pulsed UV systems provide better penetration while maintaining low average power, and that they consume up to 80% less energy than the mercury types. A chart illustrates that pulsed UV light provides cooling between pulses and that mercury UV curing continuously warms the substrate. Pulsed UV curing applications include cosmetic packaging, adhesives and wood coatings, and the manufacture of optical disks and medical electrodes.
