Advanced Photonix Inc. (API) of Ann Arbor, Mich., announced it has begun volume shipments of its 10 Gb/s APD (avalanche photodiode) high-speed optical receivers to a major European system OEM, which has placed orders worth more than $1 million over the next 12 months. The receivers were designed for use on three different product platforms that the OEM sells to telecommunications metro core and metro access markets.
