- Nanotech, Ceramic Armor to be ACerS Topics
WESTERVILLE, Ohio, Nov. 13 -- Nanotechnology, fuel cells and ceramic armor will be among topics at the 31st International Conference and Exposition on Advanced Ceramics and Composites, to be held Jan. 21-26 at the Hilton Daytona Beach Resort and Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Hosted by the American Ceramic Society (ACerS) in conjunction with the ACerS Engineering Ceramics and Electronics Divs., the conference will feature 10 symposia and three focused sessions comprised of more than 800 technical presentations and posters on the latest advances, applications and successes in advanced ceramics and composites. More than 75 exhibitors showcasing materials, equipment and supplies are participating in this event, which will bring together scientists, technologists, engineers and entrepreneurs involved in advanced ceramics.
An applications-oriented technical program will feature presentations on nanostructured materials; solid oxide fuel cells; ceramic armor; mechanical properties and performance; thermoelectric materials for power conversion applications; boceramics and biocomposites; advanced ceramic coatings; advanced processing and manufacturing technologies; porous ceramics; advanced dielectric, piezoelectric and ferroelectric materials; and transparent electronic ceramics, geopolymers and electroceramic materials for sensors. New this year are a microwave and radio frequency workshop and an Emerging Opportunities symposium.
Dongming Zhu, of the NASA-Glenn Research Center, is program chair for the meeting, which is traditionall held in Cocoa Beach. Zhu said the new beachfront location has larger meeting rooms and mroe exhibition space.
