Richard F. Begley Named GM of PerkinElmer Analytical Sciences

Health sciences and photonics company PerkinElmer Inc. of Waltham, Mass., announced yesterday that Richard F. Begley has been named vice president and general manager of its Analytical Sciences business, which includes chromatography, atomic and molecular spectroscopy, thermal analysis and laboratory information management systems. Most recently, Begley served as president and CEO of Ensemble Discovery of Cambridge, Mass., a provider of DNA-programmed chemistry used in drug discovery. Before that, he was CEO and president of 454 Life Sciences, a developer of technology for human genome sequencing. Begley held senior management positions with Agilent/Hewlett-Packard, including director of manufacturing, general manager of its Chemical Solutions and Mass Spectrometry units, and head of worldwide R&D for the Chemical Analysis Group. He has also held positions at Schlumberger and Los Alamos National laboratories.
