Cambridge-Tech.jpgCambridge Technology Inc. has announced the EC1000 controller for galvo-steered laser scanning applications. The compact single-board embedded device can be implemented directly into scan heads without requiring a controlling computer. Users can create small custom Ethernet-based smart scanning nodes, each with local job storage and independent operation. Job storage libraries, system monitoring and reconfigurations are made by downloading from a factorywide host computer via 10/100 Base-T Ethernet, by temporary connection to a laptop, by a USB memory stick or by an optional pendant. The controller can be driven by industry-standard marking software packages or through a library of control features supporting three axes of direct dynamic galvanometer servo driver control as well as controls for YAG, CO2 and fiber lasers and for automation interfaces.
