Dirk Rothweiler to Lead Optical Systems Div. at Jenoptik

Jenoptik Group of Jena, Germany, announced that Dirk M. Rothweiler, PhD, has been hired to lead its Optical Systems division, effective Jan. 1. Rothweiler joined Jenoptik from TCZ, a San Diego-based joint venture of Cymer and Zeiss SMT that develops production equipment for the flat panel display market, where he was responsible for sales. Before that he served as managing director, Asia-Pacific, at Suss Microtec AG. He began is career at Carl Zeiss AG in Oberkochen, Germany. Rothweiler earned his doctorate from RWTH Aachen. The Optical Systems division partners with manufacturers to produce optical, micro-optical and optical coating components, optomechanical assemblies, modules and systems made from glass and plastic. The division has production facilities in Germany at Jena, Triptis and Giessen, as well as in Switzerland and the US. With the addition of Rothweiler, Jenoptik said it has completed its organizational and management restructuring. The operational business of the Jenoptik Group is combined in five divisions: Optical Systems, Lasers & Material Processing, Industrial Metrology, Traffic Solutions, and Defense & Civil Systems. The five managers of these divisions comprise a new executive management board that will make strategic decisions for the Group.
