Network equipment and optical components provider MRV Communications Inc. of Chatsworth, Calif., announced that Guy Avidan, its acting chief financial officer for the last eight months, has been named to the position permanently, effective immediately. MRV also announced that Chris D. King joined the company Jan. 2 as vice president, finance, and chief compliance officer. From September 2001 to July 2007, Avidan served as vice president and general manager of MRV International. For six years before that, he worked in various executive capacities for other MRV subsidiaries. From 1992 to 1995, Avidan was vice president of finance and CFO at Ace North Hills. Prior to that, he was an accountant with a public accounting firm that became part of Ernst & Young. He holds a BA in economics and accounting from Haifa University in Israel. King most recently served as senior vice president, finance at Tandberg Television Inc., a seller of video compression and transmission hardware. He has also served as CFO of GoldPocket Interactive Inc. and as an audit manager at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, where he worked for seven years. King holds a BA in business economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and is a certified public accountant.
