KLA-Tencor Corp., a supplier of semiconductor wafer inspection products, has purchased the Ultrapointe subsidiary of Uniphase Corp. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. One of Ultrapointe's main products is a confocal laser review station, which is used to analyze defects on silicon wafers in the production of semiconductors. KLA-Tencor has been the exclusive OEM reseller for the Ultrapointe confocal laser review station since 1995.
