Optical Add/Drop Multiplexing Expected to Reach $7.2 Billion in 2008

The world market for optical add/drop multiplexing reached $23 million in 1998, reflecting the initial stage of introduction and production, according to a report issued by ElectroniCast Corp. of San Mateo, Calif. The market is expected to expand from $1.64 billion in 2003 to $7.2 billion in 2008. The firm predicts that North American fiber networks will account for 71 percent of the market in 2003.
