A 561-nm DPSS laser for fluorescence applications has been released by
CVI Melles Griot. The 85-YBB series compact yellow solid-state laser head provides up to 25 mW of output power with stability over a temperature range of 15 to 40 °C. It has a 0.67-mm beam diameter for easy retrofit from krypton-ion lasers and is a reliable drop-in replacement for krypton-argon and many green-wavelength lasers. The wavelength is suited for rhodamine, ROX and Alexa Fluor dyes. The device features an RS-232 interface.
