Hoya Vision Care Expands in Czech Republic
Vision Care, a division of Hoya Corp., and maker of ophthalmic lenses, has announced that it acquired Dioptra CZ, a distributor of ophthalmic lenses located in the Czech Republic. Hoya and Dioptra have worked together under an exclusive arrangement since the year 2000. Hoya’s Vision Care will acquire 100 percent of the shares in Dioptra CZ. The existing management team will remain in place and Rainer Burkard, director of global business development for Hoya Vision Care, will serve as acting managing director through 2008. In 2009, the company is expecting to appoint Ivana Nechanicka to serve as managing director of Dioptra CZ. Nechanicka is currently the southwest regional sales manager for Hoy Vision Care North America.
