The FDA has granted Calgary Scientific Medical Group Inc. of Calgary,Alberta, Canada, 510(k) approval for two applications designed for use with its ResolutionMD cardiac suite. Calcium Scoring software, currently available, can conduct real-time Agatston and volume calculations on single vessels or aggregations thereof. The product also permits calcium scoring and generation of patient reports in less than three minutes, as well as saving of images to picture archiving and communications systems and other software. The second application, Coronary Artery Analysis, uses automated centerline detection and cross-sectional imaging to permit accurate evaluation of arteries and measurement of stenoses. Sales of this product will begin later in the year.
