Australia-based communications technology company QuintessenceLabs announced it will partner with Lockheed Martin Corp. to develop applications of quantum key distribution (QKD) for markets in Australia and the US. The company's second generation QKD technology integrates with preexisting communications infrastructure providing one-time pad encryption in real-time. According to QuintessenceLabs, products incorporating its bright laser technology can achieve high speed, untappable communications at a fraction of the cost of traditional systems.
