- Nano, Solar Top Show Agenda
SAN DIEGO, June 24, 2009 -- New research in nanoengineering, solar, optical engineering and photonics will be presented, and 400 years of telescopes celebrated, at SPIE Optics+Photonics 2009, the most multidisciplinary science and engineering event in North America. The event takes place Aug. 2-6 at the San Diego Convention Center.
The event will include four symposia, 3100 papers, 26 plenary talks and an exhibition of more than 200 companies, as well as provide valuable networking opportunities.
More than 735 papers will be presented under the Nanoscience + Engineering topic. The latest nanoscale developments that are transforming technology and creatign new applications will be discussed, including: carbon nanotubes, optical trapping, nanosolar hydrogen, metamaterials and plasmonics.
The Solar Energy + Technology symposia will present more than 200 papers on the latest advancements in sustainable technologies from solar cells to concentrators to photovoltaic (PV) systems. Topics will include: solar hydrogen, thin films, OPVs, and PV cell technologies.
The Photonic Devices + Applications symposia will present more than 400 papers on new technologies and applications for organic and photonic materials and devices, with topics including infrared detectors, organic LEDs, organic PVs, and solid-state lighting.
More than 1800 papers will be presented during the Optical Engineering + Applications symposia, where participants will learn about the latest technologies in optical design, systems, and engineering, plus remote sensing, x-ray technologies, space applications, and solid-state lighting. Astronomy is back for 2009, with more than 300 papers.
SPIE will recognize the International Year of Astronomy during Optics + Photonics 2009. A variety of special events, from the telescope display in the exhibition hall to "Star Gazing" at the welcome reception, will celebrate the first astronomical use of the telescope by Galileo Galilei 400 years ago.
SPIE Optics + Photonics 2009 will also feature 55 courses and workshops.
