At MicroScience 2008 in June, Olympus UK Ltd. of Watford launched the Olympus Early Career Scientist Microscopy Award, which offers the winning life scientist a two-year loan of a high-value Olympus microscopy system. Researchers residing in the UK who either hold a personal fellowship or who are within three years of their first tenured academic appointment and have not received substantial grant funding are eligible to apply.
