SpectraScience Inc., a developer and supplier of optical biopsy systems for determining the malignancy of samples, has acquired Luma Imaging Corp., which holds the patent for a screening test for early detection of cervical cancer. Both companies are based in San Diego. The acquisition will enable the former to increase its product line in the field of precancer and cancer screening.
