PET/CT identifies aggressive kidney tumors

Renal cell carcinoma, which forms in the lining of small tubes in the kidney, is the most common and aggressive type of renal tumor. Last year, there were 38,890 reported new cases in the US, and 12,840 of these resulted in death. MRI, CT or ultrasound are usually used to diagnose renal masses, but they do not show how aggressive the tumor is. Dr. Chaitanya R.
