A typical example is providing gain control for an erbium-doped fiber amplifier. The low power-consuming device is a modified version of the company’s MOVA-1 microelectromechanical systems (MEMS)-based variable optical attenuator.

It is compact, low cost and electronically adjustable using a simple analog voltage. It has an attenuation range of up to 40 dB, a response time of <10 ms, low insertion loss and low polarization dependence. It is fully qualified to Telcordia GR-1221 and GR-63.

The RoHS-compliant attenuator is suitable for use in power control and equalization in multichannel systems, electronically adjustable, analog voltage, Telcordia GR-1221, GR-63
