Cornell Group Nabs Semiconductor Award

ITHACA, N.Y., Feb. 17, 2010 – A team of Cornell University researchers that includes Mike Thompson, associate professor of materials science and engineering, has received the 2009 Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI) Award for North America for its work on millisecond laser annealing using grazing-angle infrared blaster laser beams. 

SEMI is a global industry association serving the manufacturing supply chains for microelectronic, display and photovoltaic industries. Established in 1979, the award recognizes significant technological contributions to the semiconductor industry.

Thompson and his team received the prize on Jan. 12, 2010.
