Laser Pioneers Honored at LaserFest Event

WASHINGTON, DC, Feb. 23, 2010 – The organizers of LaserFest, the celebration in 2010 commemorating the 50th anniversary of the first working laser, together with the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History co-hosted a special event Feb. 12 at the museum in Washington to honor those who have made significant contributions to the development and application of laser technology. Honored individuals included researchers who developed the concept of the laser, demonstrated some of the first early lasers or received Nobel Prizes and other accolades for their work with lasers. The program included a multi-media...Read full article

    helium-neon laser
A helium-neon (HeNe) laser is a type of gas laser that emits visible red light at a wavelength of 632.8 nm. It operates based on the principle of stimulated emission of photons from excited helium and neon atoms within a sealed glass tube filled with a mixture of these gases. HeNe laser suppliers → Here are the key features and characteristics of HeNe lasers: Gas medium: HeNe lasers use a mixture of helium (He) and neon (Ne) gases as the lasing medium. Typically, the helium...
    laser spectroscopy
That part of the science involved in the study of the theory and interpretation of spectra that uses the unique characteristics of the laser as an integral part in the development of information for analysis. Raman spectroscopy and emission spectroscopy are two areas where lasers are used.
    nonlinear optics
Nonlinear optics is a branch of optics that studies the optical phenomena that occur when intense light interacts with a material and induces nonlinear responses. In contrast to linear optics, where the response of a material is directly proportional to the intensity of the incident light, nonlinear optics involves optical effects that are not linearly dependent on the input light intensity. These nonlinear effects become significant at high light intensities, such as those produced by...
