I am not sure how many readers are aware, but Messe München International has been organizing the electronica India and productronica India shows. In fact, this year’s edition is slated to held from Sept. 7 to 10 at the sprawling Bangalore International Exhibition Center (BIEC). I hope to be at the event! Some of the exhibition sectors for electronica India include semiconductors, sensors, passive components, cables and subassemblies, LEDs and displays, etc. Likewise, some of the sectors for productronica India include packaging, materials processing, component manufacturing, PV production, production-related services, etc. However, what is interesting is the focus of the show this year. This year, the show will feature three special exhibit areas – the solar pavilion, laser pavilion and LED pavilion. I also looked up the major media partners for this show, and was quite disappointed to not find the name of Photonics Media in that list! Through this blog post, I hope I can convey a message to Photonics Media to be a media partner at this show. I personally hope that should this happen, my friends from Photonics.com – specifically, Lynn Savage and Laura Marshall – will find some time to fly down to India and cover the show. And here’s why! There’s a ‘sumptuous’ – and pardon me for using this word – laser pavilion in the offing, not to speak of the LED and solar pavilions! The laser pavilion will feature lasers and laser systems. Some of the exhibit areas or product lines include: • lasers for semiconductor and display manufacturing • lasers for micro/nano-production • lasers for PCB manufacturing • lasers for product finishing • laser soldering systems • optical equipment and systems for electronics and electrical engineering • optical inspection equipment and systems • optical measurement equipment and systems • laser material-processing equipment and systems • system periphery for laser-based manufacturing • laser writing/marking/engraving equipment and systems • opto semiconductor components In my next post, I will add some bits on the LED pavilion and the solar pavilion. Of course, I’ve written a lot on the global and Indian solar/LED industries, so it’d be interesting to see what’s on offer.
