With access to more than 2775 technical papers over 56 conferences in optics, photonics, nano and solar, the event features 22 plenary talks, more than 100 courses and 200 exhibitors.

Top-level speakers will focus on the developments in emerging technologies, including nanoscience and engineering, solar energy, photonic devices and optical engineering. Topics will include carbon nanotubes, photovoltaics, optical trapping, metamaterials, thin films, OLEDs, infrared detectors, solid-state lighting, remote sensing and x-ray technologies.

In addition to the technical program and exhibition, there will also be a host of special events. These will include a Women in Optics presentation, networking events and a student leadership workshops.

Glossary
nano
An SI prefix meaning one billionth (10-9). Nano can also be used to indicate the study of atoms, molecules and other structures and particles on the nanometer scale. Nano-optics (also referred to as nanophotonics), for example, is the study of how light and light-matter interactions behave on the nanometer scale. See nanophotonics.
optical
Pertaining to optics and the phenomena of light.
photonics
The technology of generating and harnessing light and other forms of radiant energy whose quantum unit is the photon. The science includes light emission, transmission, deflection, amplification and detection by optical components and instruments, lasers and other light sources, fiber optics, electro-optical instrumentation, related hardware and electronics, and sophisticated systems. The range of applications of photonics extends from energy generation to detection to communications and...
remote sensing
Remote sensing is a method of data collection and observation where information about objects, areas, or phenomena on Earth's surface is gathered from a distance, typically using sensors onboard satellites, aircraft, drones, or other platforms. This technique enables the monitoring and analysis of Earth's surface and atmosphere without direct physical contact. Remote sensing systems capture electromagnetic radiation (such as visible light, infrared, microwave, or radio waves) reflected or...
