Rofin-Sinar Acquires Lasag from Swatch

PLYMOUTH, Mich., HAMBURG, Germany and BIEL/BIENNE, Switzerland, Oct. 1, 2010 — Industrial laser maker Rofin-Sinar Technologies Inc. said Friday that it has acquired Switzerland-based laser maker Lasag AG from The Swatch Group Ltd. for an undisclosed amount of cash. Founded in 1974, Lasag AG manufactures industrial Nd:YAG lasers for material processing. Its lasers are used for fine cutting, spot welding, drilling and scribing applications in the medical device, automotive, electronic and aerospace industries, as well as high-precision drilling and laser processing heads.
