  • MBF to Distribute for SVI

WILLISTON, Vt., Nov. 19, 2010 — MBF Bioscience and SVI (Scientific Volume Imaging BV) of the Netherlands announced today that MBF Bioscience is now an authorized worldwide distributor of SVI’s Huygens deconvolution software for the scientific community.

Deconvolution is the process of clarifying microscope images by removing blurriness and other light contamination, allowing researchers to extract more accurate data from microscopic specimens.

“We are really pleased to be able to offer our customers this great software,” said Jack Glaser, founder and CEO of MBF Bioscience. “We’re always striving to find ways to help scientists become more productive and to open new pathways to discovery. We’ve incorporated SVI’s Huygens technology into our own software, Neurolucida and Stereo Investigator, and we’re excited by this opportunity to make SVI’s Huygens deconvolution software available to scientists doing other kinds of research as well.”

“The strength of MBF Bioscience is its broad expertise with high-resolution light microscopes in the scientific and medical world,” added Gitta Hamel, managing director at SVI. “Adding now the easy-to-use Huygens-powered deconvolution in the MBF software will give the users just the extra information to leap forward in their research.”

SVI introduced the pioneering Huygens deconvolution software in 1994. Named after 17th-century Dutch scientist Christiaan Huygens, it quickly became the industry standard for deconvolution.
