JDSU, Amada to Develop More kW Fiber Lasers

MILPITAS, Calif., March 31, 2011 — JDSU and Amada have announced plans to jointly develop a second-generation suite of fiber lasers with up to 4 kW of output power. The lasers will be used in the latter’s high-power laser materials processing system. JDSU’s collaboration with Amada, a manufacturer of machine tools for metal fabrication, builds on the companies’ partnership for the first-generation laser, which is currently being launched.
