Fiber laser manufacturer !%NKT Photonics A/S%! of Birkerød, Denmark, has entered into a large-volume contract with a nondisclosed party for the supply of its low-noise Koheras fiber lasers. Under the contract, the company will provide 200 BasiK modules on a two-year delivery term. The lasers feature low frequency and intensity noise as well as inherent single-frequency operation. They are suitable for coherent sensor interferometry, where the measurement sensitivity scales with the frequency noise level of the laser source. They will be supplied as small, fully integrated modules that can be installed into fiber optic sensing systems. The company also has provided the lasers for other large projects, including structural integrity monitoring of pipelines, oil exploitation, acoustic detection for the defense sector and Doppler sensing for the wind turbine industry.
