Optoelectronics supplier Excelitas Technologies of Waltham, Mass., has opened an LED Center of Excellence at its facility in Shenzhen, China. The site will serve as a base for the company to develop and manufacture its advanced LED-based lighting solutions and to showcase its innovations and technologies to customers in China. It is expected to help customers accelerate innovative and energy-efficient LED-based lighting designs for the surgical and dental, hazardous areas, signaling and aerospace sectors. It will provide the local resources necessary to meet the increased demand for LED-based manufacturing products and equipment in China. “The development of the LED industry in China is undergoing dramatic growth and has accelerated rapidly over the past few years,” said Li Min, site leader at Excelitas Technologies Shenzhen Co. Ltd.
