BRIDGEWATER, N.J., Sept. 6, 2011 — Hamamatsu Corp. has introduced the C11697MA, a miniature spectrometer for LED testing. With its fast measurement time, it is suitable for use on production lines. Readout time is ~2 ms, and integration time can be as short as 4 µs. The faster readout and integration times decrease LED testing time so that inspection throughput can increase.

Another major feature is its trigger function, making it possible to measure pulsed light emission. Seven trigger operation modes are available, and they can be selected using the free evaluation software bundled with the instrument.

Measuring 94 × 90 × 55 mm, the C11697MA comprises optical elements, a CMOS image sensor and a driver circuit. The sensor features an amplifier array, 1024 pixels and 320- to 1000-nm sensitivity. The spectrometer has a slit measuring 70 × 800 µm and a maximum spectral resolution of 8 nm. Other features include a 16-bit analog-to-digital converter, a USB 2.0 interface and bundled software. Through the software, users can set measurement conditions, acquire and save data, and display graphs. A dynamic link library also is supplied as an accessory to allow users to configure their own measurement software.
