The new R10467U-40 hybrid photodetector (HPD) offers high-speed response, low afterpulsing, and photon counting capability. It has rise and fall times of 400 ps and time response width of 600 ps. In addition, it has excellent time resolution; its transit time spread (TTS) value is only 90 ps FWHM. Other features include a 3 mm dia. photosensitive area and spectral sensitivity from 300 nm to 720 nm, with 45% QE at 500 nm.

The R10467U-40’s speed and low afterpulsing make it an excellent detector choice for many applications. Light detection and ranging (LIDAR) and time-correlated single-photon counting (TCSPC) applications can benefit from the HPD’s good time response and timing resolution. The HPD’s low afterpulsing allows good correlation of signals for fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS). Other suitable applications include confocal and 2-photon microscopy.
