CLEVELAND, Oct. 9, 2012 — Keithley Instruments Inc. has expanded its Series 2600B System SourceMeter line with three source measurement unit (SMU) instruments suited for benchtop and R&D applications. They provide high resolution, software emulation of the company’s Model 2400 SourceMeter instrument and USB 2.0 connectivity.
The 2604B, 2614B and 2634B models are optimized for benchtop research, product development and student labs.
The Series 2600B SMU line offers single- and dual-channel models that combine a power supply, a true current source, a multimeter, an arbitrary waveform generator, a pulse generator and an electronic load.
The high resolution lets users discern smaller changes in their measurements, so the instruments provide more complete characterization.
They are compatible with test code developed for the Model 2400 SourceMeter SMU instrument, enabling an upgrade and improving test times by as much as 80%.
A back-panel USB 2.0 connector expands the interface options available for communicating with an external PC. The instruments offer users a choice of PC communication buses: USB, LAN/LXI, GPIB and RS-232.
Embedded Java-based test software supports plug-and-play I-V characterization through any web browser, on any computer, from anywhere in the world. The built-in software boosts productivity in applications such as R&D, student labs and quality assurance/failure analysis. Users can easily make a web connection to a Series 2600B instrument with the supplied LAN cable, open a browser, enter the instrument’s IP address, and begin characterizing materials or components immediately. Results can be downloaded to a spreadsheet for further analysis or imported into a document or presentation.
The Series 2600B is backward-compatible with the Series 2600A line.
