TRING, England, Oct. 18, 2012 — Specialised Imaging Ltd. has introduced Kirana, an ultrahigh-speed video camera that operates at 2 million fps.

Incorporating a proprietary hybrid sensor, the compact camera produces 924 × 768-pixel resolution. Up to 40 events can be captured at a cyclic rate of 250 ms, and 2 seconds of video can be stored when operating at 1000 fps.

Comprehensive triggering facilities, accurate timing control and a wide range of output signals, coupled with a software package that includes full measurement and image enhancement functions, simplify image capture and analysis. Full remote operation using Ethernet connectivity enables the camera to be easily integrated into almost any environment.

Users can record and deliver slow-motion video images in applications ranging from scientific research to ballistics testing.
