New Solar Research Facility Breaks Ground

BERKELEY, Calif., Oct. 29, 2012 — Construction has begun on a 40,000-sq-ft solar energy research facility at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory that will aid in the quest for alternative fuels from sunlight. The Solar Energy Research Center (SERC) — expected to be completed by late 2014 — will house research laboratories and offices of the Joint Center for Artificial Photosynthesis (JCAP) and will integrate under one roof fundamental discovery research with technology development.
