WEDEL, Germany, Jan. 14, 2013 — The ImageMaster Compact is a motorized modulation transfer function (MTF) test station for use in prototype and small serial production. It is a cost-effective, horizontal tabletop instrument for analyzing the image quality via the MTF and for measurements of other optical parameters such as effective focal length, distortion and astigmatism.

The system is the result of cooperation between Trioptics and Wells Research, a Trioptics-owned company in the US.
It includes simple-to-use software, and because to its modular design, a wide range of lenses and optical assemblies can be tested. Changing setups also is simple, optimal for R&D applications.
Features include on- and off-axis measurements up to ±130° and easy switching between an infinity and a finite conjugate system. The collimator can be exchanged with a backlit source mounted on a precise motorized stage.
A manual filter and reticle changer allows a variety of wavelengths and images to be used for analysis. A selection of collimators with different effective focal lengths guarantees the best solution for specific applications.
